Prosper, Texas homes for sale

Prosper, Texas Real Estate and Community Info.

Prosper, Texas, real estate is distinguished by its lovely rolling hills, vast tracts of undeveloped land and quiet, alluring neighborhoods. Although the community is in the midst of incredible growth, Prosper has managed to retain its country charm.

The blossoming population of Prosper means that it will naturally see an increase in job opportunities as well. Its already strong retail and business base will no doubt expand along with the community, making it easier than ever to prosper in Prosper.

Shopping and Dining

Prosper is only about 35 miles north of the expansive metropolis of Dallas and all its shopping and dining choices.

The lucky residents of Prosper also have more than 160 retail stores and restaurants at Stonebriar Centre in nearby Frisco, Texas. You can see a movie on the big screen, go back-to-school shopping at JCPenney, buy some workout equipment at Dick’s Sporting Goods and top it all off with dinner at TGI Friday’s.

When you’re tired or short on time, you have a number of the nation’s most popular eateries from which to choose right near your home in Prosper, including Sonic, Pizza Hut and Subway.

Parks and Recreation

One of the inherent benefits of Prosper, Texas, real estate is its natural beauty. Even with all of the new construction and development, it has remained steadfast in its commitment to preserve its natural resources, thereby maintaining and even increasing its residents’ quality of life.

The city of Prosper currently maintains four parks and recreational facilities, covering more than 53 total acres and offering playgrounds, basketball courts, picnic tables and park benches, lighted baseball fields, and hiking, biking and jogging trails. And if this wasn’t enough, plans are in the works for four more parks, including the Town of Prosper Park that will sprawl over 57 acres and contain a sports complex and an Educational Support Center.

Living

In the census taken in 2000, Prosper had about 2,000 residents. In the census taken just 9 years later, there were more than 9,000 people who called the town home. You don’t have to be Isaac Newton to do the math on this one. There must be a reason for this influx of 6,000 people in only 9 years.

There are several reasons for local growth, and one of the biggest is that Prosper has preserved its heritage as a cozy farming hub, a heritage begun when it was officially incorporated in 1914. This has led to a remarkable quality of life for a town of this size.

The most recent data shows that about 135,000 people live within 7 miles of Prosper. Many of the home sites in the area are a quarter-acre or bigger. And the average price for a new home is in the $360,000 range.

Schools, Health, Transportation

The Prosper Independent School District boasts extraordinary educational ratings with state-of-the-art, high-tech facilities. Its academic proficiency can be attributed in part to smaller than average class sizes, which in turn results in a teacher to student ratio of about 1:12, a relatively low number in today’s classrooms.

Emergency and medical services in the area include the Centennial Medical Center in Prosper, the Presbyterian Hospital of Allen (about 11 miles away) and the North Center Medical Center in McKinney (about 14 miles away).

Because Prosper is a relatively small town, transportation is a snap. Rush hour is virtually non-existent and almost everything you could need or want is likely within walking or biking distance from your home.
